Sept 5 Admin/Training Meeting Notes

IN ATTENDANCE

S. Clark, T. Coe, T. DeWitt, D. Fay, J. Gray, E. Mattson, C. Miller, D. Miller, D. Ponzini, T. Vogus, Anna (guest)

NEW BUSINESS

  • All volunteers can be paid for no more than 960 hours per year (40 24-hour shifts), including local calls and training, since MCFD is a CA PIRS agency. Our qualified RADOs are almost timed out, so Chief would like additional people trained wjho are interested in those assignments.

  • The Department is about at the maximum staffing of 35, including some who have not been showing up to trainings or calls. The Department needs room to add new recruits willing to serve, so Chief is making calls.

  • We need to discuss a minimum standard for training attendance. Some have told Chief they were told "training is not mandatory" so have not been showing up at all. Department members wishing to respond to fire calls, medicals or anything should at least be attending those trainings relevant to their interest, as well as annual required trainings.

  • Anna and Morgan are new recruits in the local paramedic program, and will be participating in the sleeper program. Eric Mattson will be training as an ambulance driver.

CALENDAR

  • Fireman's Ball Oct. 5.  It's a dress-up affair, but do come prepared to contribute money as it is a benefit.  Hope everyone can join.

  • Annual thank you BBQ dinner for firefighters sponsored by MCFA at Chief Miller's house on Oct. 18.

TRAINING

  • Tonight's training is on ICS at major incidents, and RADO assignments.
