Good rope rescue training last Sat. Milwaukee drill we used failed us but there are plans to get a working drill.
Admin portion of Thursday meetings are being recorded and posted as blog entries on the McCloud Fire Dept web site (firefighter section only)
Chief Miller asked if we want to do a "Fill the Boot" over Labor Day weekend. The discussion led to the Apple Harvest Festival in mid-October as a better opportunity.
CalFire has $millions to give out for fuel reduction on private property. Lt. Dan will pass on the info to those interested.
CALENDAR
Chamber Motor the Mountain show – Fri Aug.18th setup after 5 pm – tents, cook trailer etc. Saturday 19th early breakfast put on by MCFA, helpers needed. Late Saturday morning firefighters take over and help with burger prep and sales. Show is over at 1600. Break down evening.
MCFA thank you dinner is Sept. 5 or 6 (Chief Miller to confirm). Will be potluck this year. MCFA does a lot for us, including purchase of specialized rescue equipment, and Engine 1717. We need as many firefighters as possible to show to let them know we appreciate what they do.
Oct. 7 Fireman’s Ball at the Mercantile. $65 per person. Semi-formal with dancing, casino, food, drinks. All proceeds go to Rod Ives Memorial Fund to support paramedics in McCloud.
TRAINING
Today’s training is on preparations needed for wildland incident assignments, and use of fire shelters
