Trent Vogus is a dedicated member of the McCloud Fire Department beginning in 1992 and accumulated over three decades of firefighting experience throughout his distinguished career. His journey in the fire service began with the United States Forest Service, where he developed a strong foundation in fire management, suppression, and public safety. In 1995, he transitioned to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), beginning his career at Pondosa Station in the Siskiyou Unit. During his tenure, he earned a reputation for professionalism, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to serving his community.

Throughout his career with CAL FIRE, Chief Vogus served in a variety of assignments and leadership roles, ultimately working in the Lassen-Modoc Unit. There, he played a vital role in fire prevention, emergency response, incident management, and recovery operations. His extensive experience enabled him to effectively lead personnel during complex emergencies while ensuring the safety of both the public and fellow firefighters.

In addition to his frontline and leadership responsibilities, Chief Vogus served as a Technician on a California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Hazardous Materials Team. In that role, he responded to hazardous materials incidents across the state, helping to mitigate risks and protect communities and the environment.

Chief Vogus was also an active member of several CAL FIRE training cadres, where he instructed courses in Hazardous Materials, Public Safety/First Aid, and Firefighter Returning Academies. His dedication to firefighter development extended to Lassen College, where he served as an instructor within the CAL FIRE Basic Academy. Through his instructional efforts, he helped prepare and mentor future firefighters, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism required for a successful career in the fire service.

In 2026, Chief Vogus retired from CAL FIRE following a distinguished career that culminated in his service as a Fire Chief. Following his retirement, he transitioned into the role of Assistant Chief with the McCloud Fire Department, where he continues to contribute his extensive experience, leadership, and commitment to public service. This transition reflects both his enduring dedication to the fire service and his continued desire to support the department and community he has served for more than three decades.
