A member of the McCloud Fire Department since 1992, Trent has been a firefighter for almost 32

years. In the early years of his fire career, he worked for the United States Forest Service, later leaving in 1995 to pursue a career with CDF (California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection) now known as CAL FIRE, starting at Pondosa Station Siskiyou Unit. Chief Vogus has continued his career with CAL FIRE now stationed in the Lassen Modoc Unit. He is also a member of a Hazardous Materials OES team as a Technician. He is also part of a CAL FIRE cadre for teaching Hazardous Materials, Public Safety/First Aid, Firefighter returning academies, and teaches at the Lassen College with the CAL FIRE basic academy.

In December of 2024, Vogus became the Fire Chief of McCloud Fire Department. He looks forward to giving back to the community he grew up in.
