Dan began his professional journey in the field of firefighting by joining the US Forest Service, where he was assigned to work on an engine in the picturesque Siskiyou County. This role provided him with invaluable hands-on experience, as he learned the intricacies of wildfire management and the importance of teamwork in high-pressure situations. After gaining a solid foundation in firefighting, he transitioned to a different phase of his life, becoming a sleeper in McCloud. This unique position allowed him to balance his demanding work schedule while pursuing his education at the College of the Siskiyou Fire Academy, where he honed his skills and knowledge in fire science and emergency response. Currently, Dan serves as a dedicated firefighter with the CalFire Siskiyou unit, a position that not only allows him to apply the skills he has acquired over the years but also to contribute significantly to the safety and well-being of the communities he serves. His commitment to excellence in firefighting is evident in his daily work, as he responds to various emergencies and participates in fire prevention efforts throughout the region. Despite his busy schedule and the demanding nature of his job, Dan remains deeply committed to giving back to the local community that played a crucial role in supporting and nurturing his early career. He actively participates in community events, engages with local youth to inspire the next generation of firefighters, and collaborates with various organizations to promote fire safety awareness.
