Chief Miller was appointed Fire Chief of the department in August of 2020. He has 30 years’ experience in the fire service. He began his career as a volunteer firefighter in Hopland, CA. He attended Paramedic School at the Northern California Training Institute and shortly after was hired as a full time Firefighter/Paramedic by the City of Ukiah in Mendocino County. Chief Miller retired from Ukiah FD after 22 years of service. Chief Miller also teaches Emergency Medical and Fire Science at the College of the Siskiyou’s as well as river, confined space, and rope rescue subjects all over the world.   He and his family have lived in McCloud since 2011. Chief Miller is a CA State Fire Marshal Certified Chief Officer who has received several awards and commendations.
